This picture brought pangs to my heart because there is one missing from that play time.
Continue to pray, friends.
One month ago, friends.
But there is always HOPE, because our assurance rests in One who is greater than us and knows all the plans He has for us. Mary Beth said these words: " I think we're gonna make it.
Keep on praying, friends. Show Hope

: Jim gave them a quote:Through this tragic and difficult time for the family they continue to cling to their faith in God. This faith assures them they will see Maria again, and that God will sustain them through this unimaginable time. Before the loss of Maria, they knew and lived this truth out, now they press into it and go on with hope. Through these dark days, it has been an incredible blessing to see so many people come alongside this family with prayers, support, and condolences and to watch the comfort it has brought to them. In the days ahead, we welcome your continued prayer support as we know that God will hear and honor them.

I hope you've all been praying for the Chapmans, especially throughout Father's Day weekend. I was haunted by the image of a grieving father that my friend Emily described in a blog post, and it reminded me to keep on praying. Jim says: "It appears we made it through father's day. It wasn't easy. There just might be good things to talk about ahead too... just too soon to share'em. Stay with us, hang in there with us."
So, I've been very busy lately. You know my reason. Though I hope yours is much different, I know you're schedule is full too. Just before bedtime tonight there was a moment. You know the one I'm talking about... the one where you could drift off and your kids would wind up in bed without anymore help from you that night.
And then I chose.
Perhaps... Maria Chapman's legacy can be we as parents, we as friends, we as strangers... we can choose to care, to engage, and to love each other intentionally. The Houser kids got an extra story tonight. : )
Friends, have you listened to Steven's album THIS MOMENT? Would you give it another spin this weekend, or pick it up? pick it up for Dad? It is remarkable, almost breathtaking, how each song has taken on an even deeper meaning in these last 3 weeks. And it is incredible how Steven's songs begin to minister to you... In the midst of Steven’s loss. In the midst of his loss, he ministers to you. How can you explain that? As my friend at KLTY Frank Reed said... “only God.” Because when songs are crafted from and based in God’s word and His truth, as SCC's are, they can do miraculous things.
Steven's song "Cinderella" was a timely challenge the moment he wrote it. After Maria's loss, it has risen to epic importance. Listen to it today. Consider how you will make sure the new normal means more than just Maria being with Jesus... Consider how you will love bigger like she did, how we can maximize the number of people who meet her, She'd Love that. : )
Earlier today, someone asked me if I've done any interviews they could listen to. Honestly, I've done a very, very few interviews through this, I just haven't been able to hold it together to talk very long. I've favored writing for that reason. But if you're asking...
I did one with some of my very closest friends in radio just 2 days after Maria left us for heaven on that Friday.
Segment 2. Note as you listen I'm not telling the invisible voice portion of the story here. : )
And I did one yesterday as well.
Now we know why Steven does the interviews. : )
It is still dark in the house on Peach Hill. Pray, friends, pray. It is now three weeks and two days past that awful tragedy, and the valley is still so deep.
I've mentioned this before, and I'd like to repeat it again. I'd like to urge you to go read these blogs, as we grieve and pray for the Chapman family. These blogs speak volumes, and there are absolutely amazing stories that show the majesty of God and His power, His unfailing love and His eternal promise, and our hope in Him that carries us on. It will tug at your heart so hard you cannot help but be overwhelmed, both with sadness and wonder at the workings of God's hand. Glory be to Him! Blessed be the name of the Lord! I encourage you all to head over to Kerry Hasenbalg's blog
and read what she has to say. Expressions and sentences we can only wish to express but are not able to. Those of you who follow Jim Houser's blog
would've known about Scott and Kerry Hasenbalg and their own loss (also reported here at the community
), and her poignant sharings will remind you to continually pray for the Chapmans, for the Hasenbalgs, and the power of faith in Jesus Christ.

Doing this is so unreal. As I'm typing this, I'm still in shock at the news that greeted me on my homepage after being 'unconnected' to the Net for more than a week. Little Maria, who just celebrated her 5th birthday, has gone to her Father in heaven. Gone just as the family was celebrating Emily's engagement. My heart breaks for the Chapman family. Pray, friends, pray.
The following sites have all the updates: Jim Houser's blog apostle's blogThis is not at all how
We thought it was supposed to be
We had so many plans for you
We had so many dreams
And now you've gone away
And left us with the memories of your smile
And nothing we can say
And nothing we can do
Can take away the pain
The pain of losing you, but ...
We can cry with hope
We can say goodbye with hope
'Cause we know our goodbye is not the end, oh no
And we can grieve with hope
'Cause we believe with hope
(There's a place by God's grace)
There's a place where we'll see your face again
We'll see your face again
And never have I known
Anything so hard to understand
And never have I questioned more
The wisdom of God's plan
But through the cloud of tears
I see the Father's smile and say well done
And I imagine you
Where you wanted most to be
Seeing all your dreams come true
'Cause now you're home
And now you're free, and ...
We have this hope as an anchor
'Cause we believe that everything
God promised us is true, so ...
We wait with hope
And we ache with hope
We hold on with hope
We let go with hope
I should mention, this community's going on a HIATUS, because my computer's gone bonkers and has to be repaired, but only during semester vacation which is three weeks away. I'm sure not many people watch this community anyway, so no one will miss much. :p For any updates just check all the Chapman-related blogs and the SCC website. Take care, folks!
